A much-needed Facelift

Akkamma Cheriyan, popularly known as Jhansi Rani of Travancore was a freedom fighter of the erstwhile Travancore. The statue of Akkamma Cheriyan and the adjoining park at Vellayambalam near Raj Bhavan, one of the prominent landmarks of the locality, has remained ignored and unkempt for a long time. In a bold initiative, the responsibility of renovation and maintenance of the park and the statue was taken up by the Management and students of Christ Nagar Schools. This will undoubtedly be a lesson in social responsibility leading to the protection of public property and development of civic sense. Shri. Palayam Rajan, the Ward Councillor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, was present at the function. Rev Fr. Joseph Vattaparampil CMI, Manager, Christ Nagar Group of Institutions, Rev Dr. Kurian Chalangady CMI, Principal Christ Nagar HSS, Rev Dr. Sony Palathara CMI, Principal, Christ Nagar IGCSE, Rev Fr.
